Anna's Hummingbird

I've had a couple of inquiries about my hummingbird. It's an Anna's Hummingbird. They are a breed that don't migrate south in the winter, so we are lucky to see them year round. They are fun to see as there feathers are irridescant.

There are also Black Phoebes that visit our yard in the morning. They sit up on a brick wall that is about 2 feet high and then swoop down and hover above the grass for a few seconds and fly back up to the wall over and over again. I think they must be catching bugs that fly around the grass. What a way to get a meal! Guess I shouldn't complain about having to cook.

I'd like to say I knew all this information before I was asked. I have to admit I did an Internet search of "Pleasanton California hummingbird" and there it was. I love the Internet for research!

Sunny Days to Come!

Yahoo weather is predicting rain for the next four days for us so I thought it would be nice to have this picture on my blog to remind us of sunny days to come. This humming bird feeder is by our back door. It amazes me the colors on their little bodies that seem to change with the lighting between reds and greens.

As far as knitting goes, the week has flown and I've only worked a little bit on a baby hat. I'm pretty sure I posted a picture of a very similar one before so didn't bother this time. I'm looking forward to working on my Diamond Patch and Shawl collared Aran. Cindy and the knitting park has sent me 3 skeins of her leftover yarn (we are using the same brand/color) so I can make sure it is a cozy enough size for me and my hips. Thank you Cindy!!! It is wonderful how the not so little communities on the web are so caring and thoughtful! Posted by Hello

California Dreamin'

Sparky and Maddie enjoy the green grass. They even have a little bit for lunch! They got to spend a little bit of time out in the back while I was gardening. I planted a blackberry, pruned roses, got rid of a yellow jacket nest, so I feel it was a very productive morning.

Bentley enjoying the sunshine. He's funny, sometimes he doesn't run out right away when we let the dogs out of the side yard into the back yard. He also has lighter hair than Maddie and Sparky so probably wasn't as Hot.

Diamonds!

My Diamond swatch for the Diamond Patch Sweater. I think this is going to work! The swatch measurement works, the amount of yarn by weight seems to be good and I like how the yarn looks in this pattern. The yarn is Patons "au naturel" (discontinued) a cotton, wool, linen blend that is the oldest yarn in my stash, I'm happy about that too! Posted by Hello
